Strengths: Easy to replace, compact size

Weakness: Pricey, may reduce water flow

If you can plan ahead, consider looking for replacement filters on line, and in a multipack form if you can afford to spend a little more up front, you can save money over the long run. I find that I run into low flow issues before the light to replace the filter comes on. That said all of the drinking water in our house passes through it including the that for the pets. The difference it makes in a pot of coffee is remarkable. If not for the price it would be a 5 star item.

Strengths: Easy to install. Smaller than other filter of other appliance's brand.

Weakness: A bit pricey. It seems like the price went up two to five bucks every two to three years. Hard to find generic filter.

In overall, I think its performance meet my expectation. We have the water technician coming to the house one day and tested our water through this filter and the water was really really clean (according to the technician who got his device).

Rview on GE SmartWater Filter Cartridge (MWF).

Strengths: This product works as advertised. It is easy to install and after installation, ready to use. Keeps your water clean and refreshing.

Weakness: Does not last as long as I would like. Only seems to be effective 3 months.

I would recommend this product as well as the company I bought it from (FiltersFast). I received it on time as I usually do and they offer the best price. The filter is from GE and will give you the results you expect.

Tastes so good!

Strengths: Easy to install (as long as you turn it the opposite direction it says to)

Weakness: Pricey (but it seems most of the water filters out there are)

The MWF is quieter than the old model. I hadn't changed my filter in quite a while and finally decided to do it. What a difference in the taste. I wish I wouldn't have waited so long. It tastes so good!

YUMMY TASTING H20 !!

Strengths: Easy to instal, just a quick turn.

Weakness: none except for maybe the price if you follow the mfr sug to change out every 6 months.

Pretty much the only filter that you can use in ur GE Fridge. I couldnt find any generics. Got mine at Abes instead of the GE web site. Maybe a few $ less. Arrived quickly via ups and installed easily. Water tastes great.
On a side note.. Even tho the mfr recommends that you change the filter out every 6 months, I would say that is a big MAYBE, depending on your usage. Ive had my old one for 18 months and I probably could still use it if I wanted.

A lot less expensive than bottled water

Strengths: Easy to install. Water tastes a lot better than from the tap.

Weakness: Price is higher tha I would like.

Yellow warning light comes on every 9-12 months, but I still have several weeks before it turns red giving me time to find a replacement. Use Pricegrabber.com or e-bay to find he best deals on replacement filters.

Strengths: easy to install, water tastes great

Weakness: price, does not last 6 months

I recommend this product but with the following caveats. I wish it would last longer. After only 2 or 3 months the flow of water is greatly reduced. By 5 months it is merely a trickle. So figure this product will cost you about $100 per year to clean your drinking water. If you already own a GE refrigerator that requires this filter it's not like you have a choice.

Strengths: Clear, fresh tasting water and long lasting cartridge

Weakness: None

Product has worked to my satisfaction. I refuse to drink water from faucet anymore. I wish it could be cheaper but because I've only had to buy three over the last three years, I consider it a bargin as compared to buying bottled water or having a water delivery service.

Strengths: EASY TO INSTALL

Weakness: LOSES FLOW STRENGTH IN A 1-2 MONTHS MAKING IT EXPENSIVE.

WILL NOT BUY ANOTHER GE REFRIGERATOR BECAUSE OF THIS HASSLE.FOR THE PRICE I PAID IT IS NOT WORTH IT.
WAS OK TILL THE FIRST FILTER WENT OUT THEN THE REPLACEMENT ONES DONT LAST THAT LONG

Strengths: This cartridge was easy to install.

Immediately after installing the cartridge, the water from my refrigerator started running smoothly and the taste was once again good. It was very easy to install the cartridge and I am glad to have better tasting water again.

GE MWF Smartwater Filter

Strengths: Much smaller than the original GWF filter which this one replaces.

Weakness: none yet

This MWF filter replaces the GWF filter that my fridge came with. As noted in the Strengths field this new filter is much smaller. I noted a bif improvement in the water flow once I replced the filter.

Strengths: does a great job on taste of water

Weakness: knowing when needed to change

when the filter is full, the freezer stops making ice and icicles form in freezer.
You need to install a light telling you to change the filter.
This convenience would cause me to buy the appliance again.

Strengths: small, easy to install, effective

Weakness: price

I was impressed with the speed of delivery after I placed my order. The item arrived in great condition. I installed it in less than 5 minutes and was ready to go. The speed of water outflow from the fridge increased tremendously.
